How do I stop my lorikeet from biting me?

We went on holidays for 2 weeks and left parrot with a caring friend. On his return, he has become aggressive and has bitten my face twice and my hands quite hard several times. We have been back for 3 weeks and we were quite close. I am now too afraid to handle him as I'm wary of him now. Please help, I want my lori back!!!
