What is the name of a book about an Australian woman who marries an Italian POW in ww2?

I think it's a novel with biographical parts in it. It's about a woman during ww2 in Australia who meets an Italian POW in Australia. They get married and move to Italy after ww2 and I think she leaves her daughter behind. Then it's about her life in Italy.
