About to pierce my own ears...help?

My cousin has pierced her own ears 3 times and it has been fine for her. She wants to do mine (earlobes) but I'm scared theyll get infected. We're gonna steralize the needle/my ear with alcohol and burn it in a candle. And we will use hypoallergenic earrings. So my question is, will this be okay for us to do? Do you think my ears would get infected?
